Chasing losses since turning 18. Hopefully it stops today.

Just need to vent to others in a similar situation - Note that I am currently talking to my GF about it and trying to get her to take over my finances completely.

I'm from the UK, and you literally couldn't walk 200m in any direction without passing 1, 2 even 3 different bookies in my old home. Me and other friends started betting on football, horses, eventually on the roulette machines when turning 18.
Since turning 15 I had been making 10k-20k per year on a personal project, so always had a decent amount of money in my bank account.

Ages 18-19 I had a few days were I'd lose £200-£300 on the roulette machines, spending literally hours after uni in there, and go home and feel sick. I'd then start going on online roulette to try and win some money back. I still remember losing £1,400 in 20 minutes when I was 19 and feeling utterly disgusted with myself. I'd ban myself from whatever online casino that was and say to myself, never again. Pfft.

From age 19-25 I must have lost between £2,000-£4,000 every single year in the bookies and online. Then I became obsessed with bitcoin trading last year, and lost thousands to that too.

I'm 26 now and about 4 weeks ago lost £6,000 on online roulette in 30 minutes and told myself, this has to be the last ever. I told my GF about it and gave her my card, locked myself out of online banking etc. Since then, I've felt down about a few things, and just felt empty inside. Yesterday, I figured out a way to deposit money to an online roulette via paypal (which is connected to my bank card) and I lost another £3,000, then picked my brand new iPhone up and smashed it on the floor to pieces. Rang my GF again and told her about it, in a horrible state of mind told her that I'd end up killing myself if I lost all my money.

I've disconnected my Paypal and put some other barriers in place to stop me, but that's exactly what I did 4 weeks ago, and yesterday still happened.

I've lost at least £35,000 gambling overall, but fortunately managed to somehow still keep £35k in savings.

I feel in a strange, worried state which I've been keeping to myself the last 4 weeks, I think it's because I'm terrified about losing everything.

I'm a software engineer so putting software blocks to block gambling sites etc is pointless as I'd get around it.

I feel ashamed, sick, paranoid and just like a fuckwit. I just cannot stop thinking about my losses, how long it took to save it all, how long it will take for me to build it back up etc. Money money money is all that runs through my mind.

I've never wrote something like this before, and I truly hope this marks the last time I ever gamble again.

If you got this far, thanks for reading.

Nickel and dime bitcoin trading for last 6 years...report on taxes?

I recently got a notice from the IRS asking me to consider filing amended returns due to involvement in cryptocurrency.
From 2103-2018 I traded a bit of bitcoin off and on, and also played a little bitcoin poker. Total poker profits were about $500, and overall from trading bitcoin and ripple I ended up with maybe $1500 in profit, spread out over the years. Is it worth it to go back and amend and file all those returns? Will they come after me if I don't?
