Analysts warn of 'double edged sword' in China market rally as investors indulge in frenzied, risky trading: Analysts monitoring levels of margin trading (borrowing money from brokerages to trade). investors warned to stay away from lenders illegal financing for margin trading.
Are a lot of us Redditors Margin trading? It is an excellent way to make some money (especially right now) in a bear market, and it seems to be overlooked.
When I opened my Kraken account just over a year ago, I almost immediately noticed the options for margin trading. I didn't know what most of it meant, other than that I was able to short, and make money on a crash. I spent a good bit of time ( and lost even more money, lol) trying to learn the concepts, but when I finally understood it all, I actually started to make some money from my measly initial investment, using leverage. I don't see it talked about much on here, and was wondering why? I know it's much more hands on, but it seems like the majority of BTC investors are smart people, who actively invest time into their monetary investment.

I traded bitcoin at margin on a simulated exchange... if I did well does that mean I can do the same thing with real money?
I turned 1000 USD to 12000 USD in less than 2 months (not real money) by trading BTC at 20x margin on a simulated exchange. My question is basically, will the same trading strategies work on Bitmex or some margin allowing exchange if I use real money? Also, I cant find any crypto exchanges that allow margin trading in the U.S.

Is the Dai money supply limited by the demand for margin trading in the collateral currencies?
In other words, is there any major reason other than margin trading to open a CDP? What's the plan for when the demand for margin trading has been exhausted and there's more demand for dai? I understand there are a few other minor use cases for CDPs, like if you have a long-term investment in an asset and need short-term liquidity, or arbitrage if the price of dai is very far from the target price ($1 for now), but even accounting for that, the supply of Dai remains fairly limited, no?
Should I open up a margin account with my brokerage firm (E*Trade) or should I just outright borrow the money from my bank?
I would like to get back in to doing some investing on my own. I'm looking at some ETFs with a couple that pay dividends, but the primary focus would be for capital appreciation. I would like it to be able to help with purchasing a condo/townhome in Southern California (or at the very least, help with paying HOA dues). I don't anticipate taking on many risky positions (short selling, writing options, futures, etc). What are the pros and cons or what should I consider between whether to borrow from the brokerage or borrow from my bank. Or should I just pick whoever offers the better rate?

Can someone explain what is margin trading and what is cash trading. I have some bitmax and want to see what I can do to help it grow in value but don’t want to loose money by adding it to cash or margin account if it’s going to decrease in value..
Hi, I read GDAX requires $5mil to do margin trading, which I don’t have. Are there exchanges that allow you to do margin trading using your own funds? I thought maybe Bitfinix would, but every time I login, I get a pop-up saying they’re stopping service to US customers, so that’s off the list. Thanks!
David Dayen: AOC's 70% marginal tax rate won't pay for much. We should reverse corporate and inheritance tax cuts, tax stock trades, treat capital gains as regular income, tax existing wealth, or even print more money (modern money theory).
Bitfinex's new trading platform is stupid! Its stupid bug caused my margin balance to be negative and made me losing money!
Today I found that my USD margin position is -$17xxx!!! After checking detailed balance report, I figured out that a stupid bug in wallet transfer caused my LTC margin balance to be negative (actually I don't have any LTC margin position at all!!!). Then another stupid bug bought LTC using my USD margin balance to cover this negative LTC balance, without my permission! But actually I don't have anything USD at all!!! How come??!!! And I had to sell those LTC at a lower price to restore my USD balance!!! This stupid bug happened twice today! One is -$17xxx and another is -$24xxx! Can Bitfinex test your trading system carefully before releasing it?
